There has never been a more important time to adopt and support agro-ecological systems like Conservation Agriculture (CA), the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) and the System of Crop Intensification (SCI).
These food production methods are high-yielding, climate smart, pro-poor and water-saving. They are important responses to a changing climate and to food insecurity. And all that is needed to adopt them is knowledge.
INSPIRE is a stories-based knowledge-sharing hub aimed at providing the kind of information farmers across the world might need to understand why and how to take up CA, SRI or SCI.
We are producing and sharing information materials from across the world. Please use, share and contribute to help grow this network and encourage the adoption of CA, SRI and SCI
Agro-ecology is the sustainable way forward for addressing the challenges of climate change faced in the rural Global South and across the agricultural sector more generally. It is also the way to address issues of hunger, poverty, poor nutrition and gender inequity that are the targets of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
INSPIRE already runs a project promoting the benefits of SRI to women in particular, called SRI4Women and will be rolling out material on the impacts of Conservation Agriculture in the coming months.
